July 14, 2016

Fatherhood Fellowship Six-Week Series #3
The Ten Tools of Fatherhood: The Last Four Tools and “Special Situations”
No matter how tough things get, you can never, ever quit on your family. Winning dads never quit, and dads who quit never win. (p. 199)
Romans 15:5-6 – “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  1. “There will be times of fatigue, disillusionment and self-doubt in our lives. No dad, not one, escapes these challenges” (p. 200). Does this statement encourage you or depress you? Why?
  2. Why do you need both optimism and a never-surrender attitude to be a good husband and father? Why can’t you have one without the other?
  3. How can keeping your Noble Family Vision in mind on a day-to-day basis help you keep the right attitude?
  4. “Life … is all about the proper response … [and] the only thing you can control is your response” (p.207).  How have you found this to be true?
  5. What is the one challenge in your life that has helped you mature as a father and not remain an emotional infant” (p. 208)?
  6. Do you believe that nothing happens to you with a reason? Explain your view and how it helps or hinders you from developing an optimistic, never-surrender attitude?
Optional Additional Questions For Week 3:
  1. James 1:2 states – “Count it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials” (NASB). When was a time when you overcame a major challenge in your marriage? In what way did it change both of you?
  2. What is meant by “burning your boats” in order to sharpen your “Optimistic, Never-Surrender Tool” (see p. 205)?
How can doing this help you persevere for the long haul?
