The Ten Tools of Fatherhood: The Last Four Tools and “Special Situations”
It is critically important for you to support your family emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually – not just financially. (p. 209)
Mark 12:30 – “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’. There is not other commandment greater than this.”
  1. How should a husband and father support his family?
  2. What is meant by “whole-person” support?
  3. What does it mean to emotionally support your family? How can this affect your relationship with your wife and with your children?
  4. What are some ways you as a father can physically support your family? How does physical support go beyond providing the basic material need? 
  5. How can you describe your intellectual support of your family? What are some specific ways you can encourage the intellectual growth in your family?
  6. What is involved in providing spiritual support of your family? What are the biggest challenges your family is facing in this area?

  1. What are the rewards of being assertive as the spiritual leader of your family?
  2. What can you do to be a student of the members of your family?
  3. Jesus says that the second most important commandment of all is to love others as you love yourself (see Mark 10:31)? How does “whole person support” meet the requirements of this biblical command?
