Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you,and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
We will always find ourselves serving what we treasure the most, whether it is wealth, power, fame, or the Lord. But the Christian life is one of death to self and rising to walk in the newness of life. That new life is characterized by thoughts about Him who saved us, not thoughts about the dead flesh that has been crucified with Christ. When we are continually thinking about ourselves and indulging the flesh in sins we have been freed from, we are essentially carrying around a corpse, full of rottenness and death The only way to bury it fully is by the power of the Spirit who is the only source of strength. We strengthen the new nature by continually feeding on the Word of God, and through prayer we obtain the power we need to escape the desire to return to the old life of sin. Then we will realize that our new status as servants of God is the only true freedom.
Prayer for the day:
Lord, thank you for imparting Your wisdom and giving me wise counsels through your Word. Your presence has set me free from the toil and sweat of this materialistic world. Forgive me for not trusting in You and allowing circumstances and doubts to defeat me. Help me to be steadfast, unmovable in my faith, and always abound in Your work. I know that my labour will not be in vain because Your victory upholds my life. I am truly set free from the chains that bound my feet and caused me to struggle with pains and sorrows. I am ready to take off and soar high like an eagle. I will rejoice and live secure in the knowledge that nothing shall be able to separate me from Your Love. Hallelujah! Praise Your glorious name! Amen.
