A Fit Vessel

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
James 1: 19-20

“Anger and bitterness are two noticeable signs of being focused on self and not trusting God’s sovereignty in your life. When you believe that God causes all things to work together for good to those who belong to Him and love Him, you can respond to trials with joy instead of anger or bitterness.”  -John C. Boger

Prayer for the day:

Lord, you are an amazing God who is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness. Thank you for refreshing me daily with your Word and renewing my life so that I am becoming more like you. Help me to remember your words of wisdom that a soft answer will turn away rage but grievous words will stir it up. Help me to watch my lips and bridle my tongue to edify and encourage others. I pray and ask you to remove all anger and evil speaking from my life and replace them with the fruit of your Spirit that I might be kind, gentle, forgiving and sanctified to be a fit vessel to carry your gospel to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
